A few hours ago it was reported that Andela raised $24 million in a series B round of funding led by Facebook’s billionaire founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, through their fund, the Chan-Zuckerberg initiative.

Andela is a Nigerian tech startup founded by Iyin Aboyeji and Jeremy Johnson in 2014. Andela trains world class software developers in Africa and connects them to international organisations looking for developers. According to CNNmoney, Andela is a startup more elitist than Harvard. Andela has received over 40,000 training applications till date and has accepted 0.7%. Andela currently has training centres in Lagos and Kenya.

Andela intends to use part of the $24million to expand into a 3rd African country and also expand her network of developers.
